Pediatric Dentistry
Children are special… So they deserve specialized dental care.
Happy child in dentist's chair Pediatric Dentistry is the dental specialty that focuses on the oral health of infants, children and adolescents. Pediatric dentists receive two to three additional years of training beyond dental school, and are trained in child psychology, behavior control, growth and development and the latest techniques in introducing and providing dental care to children.
Because they specialize in children, pediatric dentists create an environment where children will be comfortable. In addition, they employ specially trained staff members who know how to make children feel at ease in the dental office.
The fundamental philosophy of our pediatric dental practice is prevention. We understand the importance of establishing a good oral hygiene regimen early in a child’s life, and we provide children with the necessary knowledge and treatment to maintain a healthy smile. This begins with teaching infants’ parents proper methods of oral care, dietary control and the use of fluoride vitamins to strengthen the developing teeth. Dr. Gigi and patient
Both of our offices have “prevention centers” where children receive instructions in oral hygiene including tooth brushing, flossing and rinsing. Each check-up appointment includes a visit to the prevention center to reinforce these lessons. We also provide advice about the use of topical fluorides, sealants, proper diet and control of snacks that may lead to tooth decay.
